Hey there you guys!

Nice to meet once again in this virtual classroom in which, I hope, you are learning a lot!

Today I'm here to tell you an amazing news about Spanish! This will make you understand that your learning process and mainly your pronunciation will be a lot easier. Did you know that in English (American English) there are about 14 t0 16 vowel sounds and about 20-21 vowel sounds in British or Australian English! That is insane. In Spanish vowels are exactly the same: A-E-I-O-U but here is the great part: there are only 5 sounds for them (one for each one).

In Engish you can have the:
"ei" sound for words like "babe"
"ohg" sound for words like "ball"
"a" (flat) sound for words like "bat"

The list can go on and on, and that is hard because it will make spelling, reading, and pronunciation a living hell for people trying to learn the language. In Spanish things are a lot easier. Here is an example:

For the vowel "a" the sound is flat like the "a" of bat. So for a phrase like: "saca la toalla de la playa", I can promise that every single one of those a's will sound exactly the same with no variations or funny businesses.

Here is another very good example: Here is a rap song by a Spanish rapper named Nach. He rhymes with 3 vowels (a-o-e), I want you to listen to the song and focus on the way that every vowel sounds the same in essence, it doesn't matter which other letters go with the vowel.

Here is another song that will help you listen clearer to this exact pronunciation. In this case, they are rhyming with the vowel "o".

Now, if you want to truly improve your Spanish pronunciation all you have to do is practice over and over this 5 sounds. And I think this is not asking for much. This is always a great way to start. Here is a video that will help you practice them:

Hope this lesson was hopeful and that it makes you realize that Spanish is not that hard at all, all you need to do is have a little patience and practice!
