Napa Valley College Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Chapter

Hi everyone! For those of you that do not know or have even heard of SHPE, we are one of 270 chapters across the nation and there are about 12,000 members in the nation! We are one of the most active community college chapters in Northern California and we are always looking for opportunities to promote our club to members who are interested in pursuing engineering. Currently, we host a general meeting every other Thursday (first and third) of the month where we update our members with upcoming events and opportunities. To clarify, our general meeting days and times vary from semester to semester. One of our main challenges as a community college chapter is retention due to the fact that most engineering students transfer within three years so our efforts are targeted to those who are seeking to be involved with clubs on campus. In addition, SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. Lastly, some of our values include having a familia, service, education, and resilience.
